FILE GEODATABASE

A Geodatabase is an alternate way to store GIS information in one large file which can contain multiple point, line and polygon layers.



File Geodatabase in ArcGIS can be stored in three different way:-
1. File Geodatabase
2. Personal Geodatabase
3. Enterprise Geodatabase (Formerly known as an SDE or ArcSDE geodatabase.

STEPS TO CREATE FILE GEODATABASE USING ArcGIS

1. Open Arc Cataloge.




2. Go to your path location where there you want to create file geodatabase.
3. Right click mouse and go to new option and select file geodatabase and click.





























4. Rename Geodatabase as you want and double click.




5. Right click mouse and go to new option and select feature dataset.





























6. Give feature dataset name and go to next option.

7. Select projection or import projection from reference file.


























8. There are different option to select appropriate projection for your project.
     Geographic projection
     UTM projection
     LCC projection
     TM projection     etc.

9. Spheroid and Datum always should be WGS84.

10. Click next and finish

11. You will get Feature dataset and rename.





12. Now you need to create a feature class viz;
      Point layer
      Line layer
      Polygon layer

13. Right click mouse and select feature class.



14.  In dialogue box, you can select point layer, line layer and polygon layer.





15. Go to next option and set their tolerance (default) and add field for filling attribute (non-spatial) information .





16. We have created a file geodatabase including feature data set, projection and feature class.
